Our main goal is to revive and preserve the culture and traditions of the Dniester region, particularly the villages that were submerged during the construction of the Dniester Hydroelectric Power Station (including Bakota), as well as the villages that still exist in this area today (the Staroushytska community).
We have already created several ethnographic spaces, which together form an open-air museum. We have painted houses, wells, and fences, and now they serve as part of an open-air museum. Additionally, we have established the "Gallery of Antiquities" in an old manor house, and organized numerous workshops and events for both children and adults!
“Dniester Heritage Days” is an annual program of events designed to share and promote the unique culture of the Dniester region. As part of this program, visitors have the opportunity to attend workshops, participate in artistic gatherings, listen to ancient songs, take part in the reconstruction of local rituals, and much more.
Every year, we visit the elders of Bakota and other villages to record their memories, listen to stories about various rituals and traditions, and see old photographs or embroidered shirts that they or their parents made. We digitize all this material, and some of these items are donated to the "Magic House" museum for preservation.
